Appointment of Inquiry Panel
(1)
For the purpose of enabling Inquiry Committees to be constituted in accordance with this Part, the Chief Justice is to appoint a panel (called hereinafter the Inquiry Panel) consisting of such number of advocates and solicitors (whether in practice or not), regulated foreign lawyers and lay persons as the Chief Justice may determine.
(2)
An advocate and solicitor or a regulated foreign lawyer is eligible to be appointed as a member of the Inquiry Panel if he or she has not less than 7 years’ standing.
(3)
A member of the Inquiry Panel is appointed for a term of 2 years and is eligible for re‑appointment.
(4)
The Chief Justice may at any time remove from office any member of the Inquiry Panel or fill any vacancy in its membership.
(5)
The Chief Justice is to appoint, from among the members of the Inquiry Panel who are advocates and solicitors of not less than 12 years’ standing, the Chairperson and the Deputy Chairperson of the Inquiry Panel.
