Clause 2

Amendment of section 10

Subsection (1) of section10 of the Parliamentary Elections Act (hereinafter in this Act referred to as “the principal Act”) is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the figures “1967” appearing in the second line thereof and substituting therefor the figures “1971”;

(b)

by deleting the figures “99” appearing in the sixth line thereof and substituting therefor the figures “100”; and

(c)

by deleting the figures “1967” appearing in the eighth line thereof and substituting therefor the figures “1971”.

Clause 3

Amendment of section 13

Section 13 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting immediately after subsection (3) thereof the following new subsection: —“(4) Notwithstanding any other provisions of this Act, the Registration Officer may, before certifying any register of electors, transfer the name of any person who is no longer resident at the address shown in such register to the appropriate register, provided that such person has notified the Commissioner appointed under the National Registration Act (Cap. 45) in writing of his change of residence on or before the last day for the inspection of the register of electors specified in the notice given by the Registration Officer under subsection (4) of section 10 of this Act.”.

Subsection (1) of section 15 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the figures “1967” appearing in the second line thereof and substituting therefor the figures “1971”.
