Establishment of Specialists Accreditation Board
of Pharmacists Registration Act 2007
(1)
There is to be a board called the Specialists Accreditation Board consisting of —
a chairperson who is appointed by the Minister from among the members of the Board; and
at least 6 registered pharmacists who are appointed by the Minister.
(2)
The chairperson and members of the Board must be appointed for a term not exceeding 3 years but may be eligible for re‑appointment and may at any time be removed from office by the Minister.
(3)
If any member of the Board dies, resigns or is removed from office, the Minister may fill the vacancy by the appointment of a registered pharmacist and every person so appointed holds office for the remainder of the term for which the person’s predecessor was appointed.
(4)
The powers of the Board are not affected by any vacancy in its membership.
(5)
At any meeting of the Board, 3 Board members form a quorum.
(6)
At any meeting of the Board, the chairperson presides and in the chairperson’s absence the Board members present must elect among themselves one Board member to preside at the meeting.
(7)
If on any question to be determined by the Board there is an equality of votes, the chairperson or the Board member presiding at the meeting has a casting vote.
(8)
Subject to the provisions of this Act, the Board may determine its own procedure.
(9)
The Board may appoint one or more committees consisting of such members as it thinks fit to assist the Board in carrying out its functions under this Act.
