Clause 2
Interpretation
In this Ordinance —“Corps” means the Police Cadet Corps;“officer” means an officer entered, appointed or commissioned in the Corps under the provisions of section 7 of this Ordinance;“Commandant” means the officer for the time being appointed under the provisions of section 4 of this Ordinance, and in the event of there being no such officer, means the officer who is most senior in rank in the Corps;“Police Force” means the Singapore Police Force established under the Police Force Ordinance, 1958 (Ord. 32 of 1958).

Clause 3
Constitution
(1)
There shall be raised and maintained in the State of Singapore a corps to be known as the Police Cadet Corps.
(2)
Any person who is a citizen of Singapore shall be eligible for enrolment in the Corps, subject to the provisions of this Ordinance and any regulations made thereunder.
Clause 4
Appointment of Commandant
(1)
The Minister may in consultation with the Commissioner of Police appoint an officer to command the Corps, who shall be known as the Commandant, Police Cadet Corps, and who shall be responsible for its general discipline, training and welfare.
(2)
The Commandant shall hold office for a specified period which shall not exceed three years and shall be eligible for re-appointment on completion of that period.
Clause 5
Corps to consist of units
The Corps shall consist of such units and divisions, and such numbers of officers and cadets as may from time to time be approved by the Minister.

Affiliation to the Police Force
The Corps shall be affiliated to the Police Force but members of the Corps shall not be police officers within the meaning of the Police Force Ordinance.
Clause 7
Officers’ Commissions
(1)
The Officers of the Corps shall be entered, appointed or commissioned in such manner as may be provided by regulations made under this Ordinance, and such entry, appointment or commission shall not be vacated by the death or retirement from office of the authority by whom the same was made or issued.
(2)
The Commissioner of Police may second a member or members of the Police Force for service in the Corps on a full or part-time basis.
Clause 8
Disbandment of Corps
The Minister may, whenever it may seem to him expedient to do so, disband or discontinue the service of the Corps or any part thereof.
Clause 9
Payment of compensation
It shall be lawful for the Yang di-Pertuan Negara to make payments of compensation to any member of the Corps, or his dependants, for any injury or death arising out of or in the execution of his duty and which is solely attributable to the discharge of such duty.
Clause 10
Regulations
(1)
The Minister may make regulations respecting the constitution, general government, discipline and training of the Corps and generally for carrying out the purposes of this Ordinance.
(2)
In particular and without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing power, such regulations may —
(a)
prescribe the manner in which, and conditions subject to which, persons desiring to be enrolled may offer themselves under this Ordinance, and the form of declaration to be taken by such person;
(b)
prescribe the conditions of physical fitness required of members of the Corps and of persons applying for enrolment;
(c)
prescribe the training to be undergone by members of the Corps;
(d)
prescribe the attendance at courses of instruction and training of members of the Corps;
(e)
prescribe the seniority of officers of the Corps and provide for the entry, confirmation, appointment and promotion to, or tenure of, officer rank in the Corps;
(f)
provide for the advancement or reversion in rank of cadets of the Corps; and
(g)
provide for the award of compensation in respect of death and personal injuries.
