New section 71A
The principal Ordinance is hereby amended by inserting immediately after section 71 thereof the following new section: —“Employment of police officers for private purposes71A.—
The Commissioner may in his absolute discretion grant an application made by any person for the employment of police officers for the purpose of guarding himself or any other person or any property, or for any other reason acceptable to the Commissioner.(2) Where such application is granted —
the applicant shall pay for such service at such rate as may be prescribed by the Commissioner from time to time in the Gazette; and
the Commissioner shall decide on the number of police officers to be placed at the disposal of the applicant for such service, and may prescribe the conditions of such service, which shall be binding on the applicant.(3) The Government shall not be liable for any loss or damage to property, whether owned by the applicant or by any other person, consequent on the employment of police officers as provided in this section.”.
