26. Precautions relating to blasting operations

Every licensee shall ensure that the following precautions are taken before, during and after blasting operations:

that barricades with red flags and warning notices in the 4 official languages are placed on all approaches to the blasting place and that all persons are out of the area;

that a series of 3 short audible signals is sounded;

that there is a pause for not less than 3 minutes, during which time the danger area shall be checked to ensure that all persons are in a position of safety;

that 2 short audible signals are sounded one minute before the commencement of the 10 second continuous audible signal;

that a 10 second continuous audible signal is sounded;

that the charge is fired on the tenth second; and

that the area is checked and found to be safe for return and one long audible signal is then sounded.
