3. Establishment of Institute

There is hereby established in accordance with the provisions of this Act an institute to be called the Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research which shall be a body corporate with perpetual succession and which may —

“Institute” means the Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research established under section 3;
(a)
acquire and dispose of property, both movable and immovable;
(b)
sue and be sued in its corporate name; and
(c)
perform such other acts as bodies corporate may by law perform.
(2)
The Institute may be referred to by the abbreviation SISIR.
