Property sector exposure limit

Subregulation 1

The property sector exposure of a merchant bank in Singapore must not exceed 35% of the total eligible assets of the merchant bank.

Subregulation 2

Despite paragraph (1), the Authority may, in any particular case, vary the property sector exposure limit of a merchant bank in Singapore to be any other percentage for any period specified by the Authority, if the specified circumstances are satisfied.

Subregulation 3

A merchant bank in Singapore that contravenes this regulation shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $100,000 and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine of $10,000 for every day or part of a day during which the offence continues after conviction.
