Application to be licensed installer and licensed contractor
Subregulation 1
An individual who satisfies any of the following requirements may apply to be a licensed installer by submitting to the Authority the items specified in paragraph (3):
the individual has, in relation to a type of wiring specified in the first column of the First Schedule, any of the corresponding qualifications specified in the second column of that Schedule for carrying out wiring work;
the individual has carried out any specified work on behalf of a telecommunication system licensee for the minimum specified period (whether or not the individual is employed by the telecommunication system licensee at the time of application).
Subregulation 2
A person —
who is or has employed a licensed installer; and
who, for profit or reward, intends to carry on or carries on the business of providing wiring work,may apply to be a licensed contractor by submitting to the Authority the items specified in paragraph (3).
Subregulation 3
The items mentioned in paragraphs (1) and (2) are as follows:
in the case of an application to be a licensed installer, information on the type of wiring in relation to which the individual is qualified to carry out wiring work;
in the case of an application to be a licensed contractor, information on the type of wiring in relation to which the person provides or intends to provide wiring work;
payment to the Authority of the appropriate fee specified in the Second Schedule;
any written information that the Authority may require for the purpose of the application.
Subregulation 4
An individual mentioned in paragraph (1) who has submitted the items specified in paragraph (3) to the Authority may be registered by the Authority as a licensed installer and is deemed, on the date of the registration, to be granted a telecommunication wiring installer class licence.
Subregulation 5
A person mentioned in paragraph (2) who has submitted the items specified in paragraph (3) to the Authority may be registered by the Authority as a licensed contractor and is deemed, on the date of the registration, to be granted a telecommunication wiring contractor class licence.
Subregulation 6
In this regulation —
Definition
“minimum specified period” means a cumulative period of at least one year, whether the period (or any part of the period) is before, on or after 1 July 2024;
Definition
“specified work” means the installation, modification, maintenance or repair of wiring that is —
used or intended to be used for connection to any telecommunication system of a telecommunication system licensee; and (b)of a type specified in the first column of the First Schedule.
