Regulation 49
Sources of external irradiation
Every licensee must ensure that if a source can give rise to external exposure to members of the public —
(a)
the floor plans and arrangements of equipment for all significant modifications to existing installations are subject to review and approval by the Director‑General or any authorised officer, prior to commissioning; and
(b)
shielding and other measures for protection and safety, including access controls, are provided for restricting public exposure, in particular at open sites such as for some applications of industrial radiography.
