Regulation 58
Radioactive waste characterisation and classification
Subregulation 1
Every approved person must characterise radioactive waste under the person’s responsibility in terms of its physical, mechanical, chemical, radiological and biological properties, and the relevant characteristics of the waste must be recorded to facilitate its further management.
Subregulation 2
Every approved person must classify radioactive waste under the person’s responsibility in accordance with the radioactive waste classification scheme established by the Director‑General.
