Regulation 4

Award of Medal, Bar and Bar (Enhanced)

Subregulation 1

The Medal may be awarded to any eligible person who has rendered service in any country or territory outside Singapore under one or more of the following conditions:

(a)

in an operation that involves threat to his life or limb and lasting —

(i)

for a period of 96 hours or more; or

(ii)

for a shorter period during which the eligible person dies or is evacuated owing to wounds or other disabilities suffered as a result of the operation or if the Commissioner of Police, the Director of Central Narcotics Bureau or the Director of Prisons so recommends;

(b)

in an operation that involves the keeping of peace, restoring of law and order, provision of humanitarian aid or rescue and lasting —

(i)

for a period of 14 days or more; or

(ii)

for a shorter period during which the eligible person dies or is evacuated owing to wounds or other disabilities suffered as a result of the operation or if the Commissioner of Police, the Director of Central Narcotics Bureau or the Director of Prisons so recommends.

Subregulation 2

An eligible person to whom the Medal has been awarded for his participation in an operation may be awarded a Bar if he further qualifies for the award of the Medal through his participation in a different operation.

Subregulation 3

An eligible person who is awarded or qualifies for a Medal or a Bar in respect of an operation referred to in paragraph (1)(a) or (b) may be awarded a Bar (Enhanced) for his further participation in that same operation —

(a)

on completing each continuous period of 180 days of further participation; or

(b)

for each tour of duty starting at least 180 days after the end of his last tour of duty in that same operation.
