18. Decision on appeal
Feedback & supportOn appeal under section 16 or 17, a commanding officer or the Commissioner, as the case may be, may —

“commanding officer” means the Deputy Commissioner of Police, the Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police and an Assistant Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Police Academy and any police officer lawfully acting in any of these appointments;
(a)
dismiss the appeal;
(b)
allow the appeal and quash the decision; or
(c)
impose such other punishment as he thinks fit except that the punishment so imposed shall not in any event be greater or more severe than that originally imposed.
