Amendment of section 8

Subsection (1) of section 8 of the Accountants Act is hereby amended by deleting the expression “The Society, with the approval of the Minister, may generally from time to time at any general meeting make such rules as may be necessary or expedient for giving effect to the provisions of this Act and for the due administration thereof and may in particular at such meetings make rules to provide for any of the following matters:—” appearing therein and substituting therefor the expression “The Council may, with the approval of the Minister, make such rules (in this Act referred to as “rules of the Society”) as may be necessary or expedient for giving effect to the provisions of this Act and for the due administration thereof and such rules may, without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, provide for any of the following matters:—”.

Amendment of section 9

Subsection (1) of section 9 of the Accountants Act is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “and” appearing at the end of paragraph (d) thereof;

(b)

by deleting the full-stop appearing at the end of paragraph (e) thereof and substituting therefor the expression “; and”; and

(c)

by inserting immediately after paragraph (e) thereof the following new paragraph: —“(f)a representative of the Nanyang University established by the Nanyang University Act (Cap. 178) to be appointed by the Minister on the nomination of the Council of the Nanyang University.”.

Amendment of section 28

Subsection (2) of section 28 of the Accountants Act is hereby amended by deleting the word “Society” appearing therein and substituting therefor the word “Council”.
