9. Period of validity of medical fitness certificate
Feedback & supportA medical fitness certificate is valid only from the date of the medical examination and for the period specified on the certificate, which must not exceed the following maximum periods:

“medical fitness certificate” means a certificate attesting to a person’s fitness to perform the duties which that person will carry out at sea and which is issued by a qualified medical practitioner (whether or not subject to restrictions or conditions);
(a)
in respect of a person below 18 years of age, one year;
(b)
in respect of a person of 18 years of age or above, 2 years.
