Effect of company becoming law corporation

A law corporation is authorised to do anything that a solicitor can do by law and is required to do all that a solicitor is required to do by law.

Subsection (1) does not apply to the doing of anything that can only be done by a solicitor as a natural person.

A regulated legal practitioner who provides legal services as a director or employee of a law corporation is subject to the same standards of professional conduct and competence in respect of such services as if he or she were personally providing the legal services as a regulated legal practitioner in a law firm.

The mere fact that a regulated legal practitioner personally provides legal services as a director or employee of a law corporation does not affect the personal liability of that regulated legal practitioner at law.
