Regulation 11

Validity of Singapore certificates of identity

Subregulation 1

A Singapore certificate of identity issued on or after 1 December 2007 ceases to be valid at the end of the day specified in the Singapore certificate of identity as the date of expiry, being a day not later than 5 years after the day on which the Singapore certificate of identity was issued, if the Singapore certificate of identity is not earlier cancelled.

Subregulation 2

To avoid doubt, any other Singapore certificate of identity ceases to be valid at the end of the day specified in the Singapore certificate of identity as the date of expiry, if the Singapore certificate of identity is not earlier cancelled.

Subregulation 3

Despite paragraphs (1) and (2), a Singapore certificate of identity ceases to be valid if the entry permit of the holder of the Singapore certificate of identity is cancelled under the Immigration Act 1959, or the holder ceases to be a stateless person.
