Amendment of section 7
of Scams (Countermeasures) and Other Matters Bill
In the Protection from Scams Act, in section 7 —
after subsection (1), insert —“(1A) Any of the following persons may appeal to the Commissioner against any decision of a specified officer under this Act in relation to a service limitation order:
the identified person in relation to the order;
any other person who is a user of the scam‑enabling service specified in the order.
Any user of any bank account, payment account, digital payment token account, telephone line account or online account directed to be disabled under an account disabling order may appeal to the Commissioner against any decision of a specified officer under this Act in relation to the account disabling order.”; and
in subsection (2)(c), delete “after the time of receipt of the notification relating to the decision appealed against”.
