Combination recorders
A CGAC holder may, in lieu of complying with regulations 90 and 91, equip an aircraft that it operates for complex general aviation operations that corresponds to one of the following descriptions with the flight recorder system specified for that aircraft:
an aeroplane with an MCTOM exceeding 5,700 kg, that is required to be equipped with a flight data recorder and a cockpit voice recorder, may be equipped with 2 combination recorders (one forward and one aft);
a multi‑engined turbine‑powered aeroplane with an MCTOM not exceeding 5,700 kg, that is required to be equipped with a flight data recorder or a cockpit voice recorder, or both, may be equipped with one combination recorder;
a helicopter that is required to be equipped with a flight data recorder or a cockpit voice recorder, or both, may be equipped with one combination recorder.
