Prohibition on unauthorised activities relating to electricity
(1)
No person may —
engage in the generation of electricity;
engage in the transmission of electricity;
transmit electricity for or on behalf of a transmission licensee (other than as an employee of the transmission licensee);
engage in the retail of electricity;
import or export electricity;
provide any market support services;
trade in any wholesale electricity market; (h)operate any wholesale electricity market; or
carry on any other activity relating to electricity that the Minister may, by order in the Gazette, specify,unless the person is authorised to do so by an electricity licence granted under section 9 or is exempted under section 8.
(2)
Any person who contravenes subsection (1) shall be guilty of an offence and shall be liable on conviction to a fine not exceeding $500,000 and, in the case of a continuing offence, to a further fine not exceeding $12,500 for every day or part of a day during which the offence continues after conviction.
