8. Amendment of section 2

In the MPA Act, in section 2(1) (as renumbered by section 29(a)) —

before the definition of “appointed officer”, insert —“ “aircraft” means any machine that can derive support in the atmosphere from the reactions of the air otherwise than by the reactions of the air against the surface of the earth;”;

in the definition of “equipment”, replace “marine or port services and facilities” with “marine services”;

in the definition of “goods”, after “carcases,”, insert “corpses, human remains,”;

replace the definition of “marine services and facilities” with —“ “marine facility” means a facility used in connection with the conduct of any activity mentioned in paragraph (a) of the definition of “marine services”;“marine services” means —

any activity conducted within the port or territorial waters of Singapore that relates to —

port operations; (ii)the provision of goods or services; or (iii)the transport of any person or the transport or delivery of any goods or supplies; (b)any activity conducted within a marine facility; or

the provision of any marine facility;“maritime device” has the meaning given by section 2A;”;

replace the definition of “port services and facilities” with —“ “port operations” includes —

the handling, storage and transportation of goods on land adjoining the foreshores of Singapore; (b)the handling of passengers (including their baggage) carried by vessels; and (c)the facilitation of navigation in the port;”;

delete the definition of “public licence”;

after the definition of “rates”, insert —“ “regulated service” means —

providing any marine service specified in the Fourth Schedule; and

if the manner of providing the marine service is specified in the Fourth Schedule — providing the marine service in the manner so specified;”; (h)after the definition of “seaman”, insert —“ “unmanned aircraft” means an aircraft that may be flown or used without any individual on board the aircraft to operate it;”; and

in the definition of “vessel”, after “sea”, insert “, but excludes any maritime device”.
