Section 294

Where a copy of the depositions taken by a Coroner on any inquiry has been transmitted to the Commissioner of Police under section 293, if the Commissioner of Police is satisfied that due diligence has been used by the police to discover the guilty person but that person remains undiscovered and there is in the opinion of the Commissioner of Police no probability that the guilty person will be discovered, he shall certify his opinion to that effect in writing to the Public Prosecutor.
