Amendment of section 59
of Health Sciences Authority (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill
In the HBR Act, in section 59 —
in subsections (1) to (4), after “this Act”, insert “or the regulations made under this Act”;
in subsection (2)(e), replace “Director‑General or authorised officer” with “Chief Executive or an authorised officer or auxiliary authorised officer”;
in subsection (3)(a), replace “, secretary or other similar officer” with “or other similar officer, or an authorised representative,”;
after subsection (5), insert —“(5A) However, service of any document under this Act on a person by email may be effected only with the person’s prior consent (express or implied) to service in that way.”; (e)in subsection (7), before the definition of “business address”, insert —“ “authorised representative”, in relation to a partnership (other than a limited liability partnership), means any person authorised to accept service of documents on behalf of the partnership;”; and
in subsection (7), replace the definitions of “last email address” and “residential address” with —“ “document” includes a notice or an order permitted or required by this Act or the regulations made under this Act to be served;“last email address” means the last email address given by the addressee concerned to the person giving or serving the document as the email address for the service of documents under this Act;“residential address” means an individual’s usual or last known place of residence in Singapore.”.
