Amendment of section 2
of Health Sciences Authority (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill
In the Human Biomedical Research Act 2015 (called in this Part the HBR Act), in section 2 —
replace the definition of “authorised officer” with —“ “authorised officer” means an individual who is appointed as such under section 4(2)(a);“Authority” means the Health Sciences Authority established under section 3 of the Health Sciences Authority Act 2001;“auxiliary authorised officer” means an individual who is appointed as such under section 4(2)(b);”;
after the definition of “biomedical research”, insert —“ “Chief Executive” means the Chief Executive of the Authority appointed under section 15 of the Health Sciences Authority Act 2001, and includes any individual acting in that capacity;”; and
after the definition of “prohibited human biomedical research”, insert —“ “public authority” means a body established or constituted by or under a public Act to perform or discharge a public function, but does not include a Town Council established under section 4 of the Town Councils Act 1988;”.
