Legal aid

Subregulation 1

No steps may be taken by a police officer to institute legal proceedings on his own behalf in connection with any matters whatsoever arising out of his official duties, without the previous consent of the Commissioner.

Subregulation 2

A police officer may apply for legal aid in proceedings taken by or against him arising from matters connected with the performance of his official duties but no charges incurred through employing such aid shall be paid by the Government unless the prior sanction of the Government to such employment has been obtained.
