Police Regulations

the election of a committee to transact the business of the association between general meetings;

the election of sub-committees to transact the business of branches of the association between general meetings of such branches;

the convening of general and extraordinary general meetings of the association and of branches of the association;

the convening of committee and sub-committee meetings;

the notice which shall be given to members as to every kind of meeting;

the powers, including the financial powers, of committees and sub-committees;

the quorum at any meeting made up of —

in the case of a committee meeting, at least one-half of the number of the members of that committee; and

in the case of a general meeting, a number of the members of the association to be decided by the committee of the association;

minutes of meetings and other records to be kept in a language approved by the Commissioner;

debates and discussions at all meetings to be conducted in the English language;

voting at all meetings to be by a show of hands or written means (electronic or otherwise);

the Commissioner to be informed of the names of all persons elected to committees or sub-committees immediately upon their election;

moneys to be levied by the association or by any branch of the association from its members or otherwise only with the consent in writing, given generally or on a specific occasion, by the Commissioner or by a Deputy Commissioner;

the Commissioner to be given, upon the Commissioner’s request —

notice of any meeting of the association or the committee of the association; and

copies of the minutes of such a meeting;

the Commissioner to be empowered to summon a general meeting of the association or a committee meeting or a sub-committee meeting by giving 7 days’ written notice thereof or such shorter notice as may be provided in the rules of the association;

the Commissioner, a Deputy Commissioner or any police officer authorised by the Commissioner, to be empowered, at their discretion, to attend any meeting and to be heard;

any rules of the association to be amended as the Commissioner may direct; and

such other matters as may be necessary for the proper working of the association.

the commanding officer is of the opinion that an inadequate sentence or excessive sentence has been imposed; or

the proceedings have not been conducted in a proper manner.

for a police officer who has attained or will, within 2 years after the order to pay the fine, attain the maximum of the police officer’s current salary scale or salary range, an amount equal to the last annual increment provided in the police officer’s salary scale or salary range; and

for any other police officer, an amount equal to the total annual increments the police officer would receive in a period of 2 years after the order to pay the fine.

a charge for conveying such officer from his police station to his place of duty and back to the police station as follows:

motor cycle$1.20 per kilometre;

3-ton van$1.80 per kilometre;

any other vehicle$1.20 per kilometre;

a charge for the services, according to rank, of any driver of the vehicle at the appropriate rate set out in regulation 31;

any expense incurred by the officer in using public transport; and

a charge of $35 per month if the officer is required to wear plain clothes instead of police uniform.
