Eligibility of pupils and award of Edusave Scholarships for Independent Schools at Secondary One

The Edusave Scholarship for Independent Schools is awarded each year to every pupil at the secondary one level who satisfies all the following requirements:

(a)

the pupil is a citizen of Singapore or becomes a citizen of Singapore in that year;

(aa)the pupil is not the holder of any other academic award in that year;

(b)

the pupil has sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination in the previous year and has obtained the qualifying aggregate score in the Primary School Leaving Examination in that year;

(c)

the pupil is enrolled in an independent school —

(i)

for the pupil’s secondary education only; or

(ii)

for the pupil’s secondary and pre-university education.

In this regulation —

Definition

“cut-off position”, in relation to a pupil who sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination in a year, means the position of the pupil that determines the qualifying aggregate score, which is determined in accordance with the formula (rounded up to the nearest whole number) where A is the total number of secondary one places in independent schools that are available to the pupils who sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination that year;

Definition

“qualifying aggregate score”, in relation to the Primary School Leaving Examination sat by the pupils in a year, means the aggregate score obtained by the pupil in the Primary School Leaving Examination who is ranked at the cut-off position among all the pupils who sat for the Primary School Leaving Examination that year.
