Definitions of this Part
In this Part, unless the context otherwise requires —“applicable pupil” means a pupil who is enrolled in a Government primary school or Government‑aided primary school in primary one or primary two, as the case may be;[Deleted by S 668/2019 wef 02/10/2019][Deleted by S 702/2025 wef 01/11/2025][Deleted by S 702/2025 wef 01/11/2025][Deleted by S 702/2025 wef 01/11/2025]“authorised officer” means a public officer appointed as an authorised officer under regulation 32(2);“average gross monthly household income” means the total amount of gross monthly household income in the relevant period, divided by 12;“average per capita gross monthly household income” means the total amount of per capita gross monthly household income in the relevant period, divided by 12;“constituency” means an electoral division under the Parliamentary Elections Act (Cap. 218);“gross monthly household income”, in relation to the household in which a pupil lives, means the sum total of the gross monthly income of each of the members living in the household;“group representation constituency” means any electoral division declared to be a group representation constituency under the Parliamentary Elections Act;“member”, in relation to the household in which a pupil lives, means an individual who is a member of the family of the pupil that constitutes the household by reason of a relationship established by blood, marriage or adoption in accordance with any written law (whether in Singapore or elsewhere) relating to the adoption of children, and includes the pupil;“per capita gross monthly household income”, in relation to the household in which a pupil lives, means the gross monthly household income of the household divided by the total number of members living in the household;“relevant period”, in relation to the average gross monthly household income or average per capita gross monthly household income of the household in which a pupil lives, means the continuous period of 12 months determined by the Minister to be relevant in ascertaining the average gross monthly household income or average per capita gross monthly household income (as the case may be) of a household for the purposes of the Edusave Merit Bursary, and for this purpose the Minister may determine different periods for different circumstances, as the Minister considers appropriate.
