3. Amendment of section 2

In the AMA, in section 2(1) —

in the definition of “accessories”, replace “internet” with “Internet”;

after the definition of “Authority”, insert —“ “automated vehicle technology” means any particular technology that —

relates to the design, construction or use of autonomous motor vehicles; or

otherwise relates to advances in the design or construction of autonomous motor vehicles;“autonomous motor vehicle” means a motor vehicle equipped wholly or substantially with an autonomous system (also commonly known as a driverless vehicle), and includes a trailer drawn by such a motor vehicle;“autonomous system”, for a motor vehicle, means a system that enables the operation of the motor vehicle without the active physical control of, or monitoring by, a human operator;”;

replace the definitions of “non‑compliant bicycle”, “non‑compliant mobility vehicle”, “non‑compliant non‑motorised wheelchair”, “non‑compliant personal mobility device” and “non‑compliant power-assisted bicycle” with —“ “non‑compliant”, in relation to a bicycle, mobility vehicle, non‑motorised wheelchair, personal mobility device, power‑assisted bicycle or other vehicle or device, means a bicycle, mobility vehicle, non‑motorised wheelchair, personal mobility device, power‑assisted bicycle or other vehicle or device the construction, weight or accessories of which do not comply with the requirements as to construction, weight and accessories prescribed under this Act for such vehicles or devices generally or for that type of vehicle or device particularly;”;

after the definition of “Town Council”, insert —“ “trailer” means a vehicle drawn by a motor vehicle;“unapproved and unsealed PAB” means a PAB that is not approved and sealed in accordance with the rules made under the Road Traffic Act 1961 for the PAB to be kept or used on a road under that Act;”;

delete the definition of “uncertified vehicle advertisement”; and

after the definition of “unregistered”, insert —“ “unsafe device” means a PAB or registrable personal mobility device that is an unsafe device as defined in section 2(1) of the Small Motorised Vehicles (Safety) Act 2020;”.
