Amendment of Termination of Pregnancy Act 1974
of Health Sciences Authority (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill
In the Termination of Pregnancy Act 1974 —
in section 2, in the definition of “medical practitioner”, replace the full‑stop at the end with a semi‑colon;
in section 2, after the definition of “medical practitioner”, insert —“ “public authority” means a body established or constituted by or under a public Act to perform or discharge a public function, but does not include a Town Council established under section 4 of the Town Councils Act 1988.”;
in section 8, after “public officer”, insert “or officer of a public authority”; and
after section 8, insert —“Protection from personal liability
9. No liability shall lie personally against any public officer or officer of a public authority appointed by the Minister under section 8 who, acting in good faith and with reasonable care, does or omits to do anything in the execution or purported execution of this Act.”.
