Amendment of Voluntary Sterilisation Act 1974
of Health Sciences Authority (Amendment) and Other Matters Bill
In the Voluntary Sterilisation Act 1974 —
in section 2, after the definition of “health institution”, insert —“ “public authority” means a body established or constituted by or under a public Act to perform or discharge a public function, but does not include a Town Council established under section 4 of the Town Councils Act 1988;”;
in section 6, after “Minister”, insert “, or an officer of a public authority authorised by the Minister,”; and
after section 10, insert —“Protection from personal liability
11. No liability shall lie personally against any public officer or officer of a public authority authorised by the Minister under section 6 who, acting in good faith and with reasonable care, does or omits to do anything in the execution or purported execution of this Act.”.
